Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab — UDSACD 2061

"Stampede" by The Doobie Brothers was recorded in 1975 at the Record Plant in Los Angeles under the production of Ted Templeman, who had helmed the band's previous successful albums. The recording sessions took place during a period of significant lineup changes, with Jeff "Skunk" Baxter joining as guitarist and keyboardist Pat Simmons becoming more prominent in songwriting. The album was engineered by Lenny Waronker and reflected the band's evolution from their earlier motorcycle rock sound toward a more sophisticated, radio-friendly rock style with enhanced production values. "Stampede" became one of the Doobie Brothers' most commercially successful albums, reaching number four on the Billboard 200 chart and spawning the hit single "Take Me in Your Arms (Rock Me)."
