Elektra — EKS-75007

Morrison Hotel was recorded at The Doors' own recording facility, The Workshop, located in Los Angeles, during late 1969 and early 1970. The album was produced by The Doors themselves along with engineer Bruce Botnick, who had worked with the band since their debut. The band adopted a more stripped-down, blues-rock approach compared to their previous psychedelic work, utilizing live instrumentation and minimizing studio effects to capture a rawer sound. This production choice reflected the band's desire to return to their roots as a live performing group and move away from the elaborate studio arrangements of L.A. Woman's predecessor. The album was released in February 1970 and marked a significant shift in The Doors' musical direction during a transitional period for the band.
