Blanco y Negro Records — BYNC 7 240790-1
Widely regarded as the definitive original UK vinyl pressing, praised for capturing the intended wall-of-noise mix with proper analog dynamics.

Psychocandy, released in 1985, was recorded at various studios including Sarm Studios in London and Phenix Studio in Glasgow under the production of John Loder, known for his work with industrial and experimental artists. The album featured heavily processed and distorted vocals and instruments, with engineer Loder and the Reid brothers employing innovative layering techniques and heavy use of feedback and noise, partly as a response to their limited resources and the band's desire to create a distinctive sonic identity. The recording process involved unconventional approaches to drum programming and vocal treatment, with the brothers constructing much of the album's texture through deliberate sonic experimentation rather than traditional live instrumentation. Released during the post-punk era, Psychocandy became influential in shaping the sound of alternative and noise pop music, with its production style marking a significant departure from contemporary mainstream rock practices.
