Rejuvenation — The Meters

The Meters

Rejuvenation

First released

The Meters recorded "Rejuvenation" in 1974 at Sea-Saint Studios in New Orleans, the facility owned and operated by producers Allen Toussaint and Marshall Sehorn. The album was produced by the duo of Toussaint and Sehorn, who had previously worked with the band on earlier projects. The recording captured the group at a peak creative period, featuring live instrumentation with minimal overdubbing, which was characteristic of the New Orleans funk sound of the era. The album became one of The Meters' most commercially successful releases, reaching the Top 10 on the Billboard R&B albums chart and helping to define the New Orleans funk aesthetic of the mid-1970s. Rejuvenation showcased the band's tight instrumental interplay and innovative use of rhythm and groove, contributing significantly to their legacy in funk and soul music.
