Polydor — UIGY-9076

Goats Head Soup was recorded between March and August 1973 across multiple studios including the Rolling Stones' mobile unit, Stargrove in France, and Island Records Studios in Jamaica, reflecting the band's preference for varied recording environments. Producer Jimmy Miller, who had worked with the Stones on previous albums, oversaw the sessions alongside engineer Rob Fenn, continuing their collaborative relationship. The album marked a period where the band experimented with incorporating Caribbean and reggae influences, particularly evident in tracks recorded during the Jamaica sessions. The recording process occurred during a transitional time for the Stones, as Keith Richards faced ongoing legal troubles and the band was navigating changes in their creative approach. The production utilized the latest multi-track recording technology available in the early 1970s, allowing the band to layer instruments and vocals with greater flexibility than in previous eras.
