The War on Drugs

Lost in the Dream

First released

Lost in the Dream, the second studio album by The War on Drugs, was recorded primarily at Chem19 Studios in Philadelphia with producerCounty Morris and engineer John Congleton, who would go on to become a highly respected producer. The band, led by Adam Granduciel, crafted the album over an extended period with a focus on layered guitar textures and a cinematic rock sound that drew from 1980s and 1990s influences. The production emphasized analog warmth and detailed arrangement, with Granduciel using vintage equipment and extensive overdubbing to build dense, atmospheric soundscapes. Released in March 2014, the album represented a significant artistic leap for the band and helped establish them as major figures in contemporary rock music during a period when the genre was experiencing a creative renaissance.
