XL Recordings — XLLP 151

White Blood Cells was recorded in late 2001 at Ghetto Recorders in Stockholm, Sweden, with producer Liam Duggan and engineer Cians Ó Bacháin. The album was completed in just two weeks under relatively minimal production conditions that complemented the band's raw aesthetic. Jack White utilized unconventional recording techniques including the use of a bass VI guitar instead of a traditional bass, contributing to the album's distinctive sound. The stripped-down approach and quick recording timeline reflected The White Stripes' blues-influenced rock sensibilities and desire to capture an energetic, live feel. Released in June 2003 in the United States, the album became a major commercial and critical success that helped establish the band as key figures in the early 2000s rock revival.
