Who Are You — The Who

The Who

Who Are You

First released

Who Are You was recorded between 1977 and 1978 at various studios including The Who's own Ramport Studios in London, as well as sessions at other facilities. The album was produced by Jon Astley alongside the band members themselves, with Glyn Johns serving as engineer on portions of the work. The recording process was marked by the band's experimentation with new synthesizer technology and Pete Townshend's continued focus on conceptual songwriting, though the album ultimately presented a more straightforward rock approach compared to some previous works. The production reflected the late 1970s musical landscape while maintaining The Who's signature energetic guitar-driven sound. The album's title track became notable for its distinctive synthesizer introduction and was later famously used as the theme for the CSI television series.
