The album was produced by Toto themselves alongside engineer/producer Dennie Driscoll, with mixing and production support from the band members who were experienced session musicians. The band employed multitrack recording techniques and layered instrumentation to achieve their signature polished sound, with particular attention to drum production and keyboard arrangements. Released in October 1978, the album benefited from the musicians' extensive session work background, allowing them to execute complex arrangements with precision.
