Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab — MFSL 1-250

Toto IV was recorded between 1981 and 1982 at various studios including Capitol Studios and One on One Recording Studios in Los Angeles. The album was produced by Toto themselves alongside producer Burt Bacharach, who collaborated on several tracks and brought his sophisticated pop sensibility to the project. Engineer Greg Ladanyi played a crucial role in the recording process, helping to craft the album's polished and layered sound that blended rock, pop, and soul elements. The production featured extensive use of synthesizers and multi-track recording techniques that were state-of-the-art for the early 1980s, creating the glossy production style that became the album's signature. Toto IV became one of the best-selling albums of 1983 and won six Grammy Awards, establishing Toto as a major commercial force in popular music.
